Monday July 17, 2023 -Day 5 Part Deaux- It’s Groundhog Day. Everyday seems the same.  With my two appointments being scheduled at the same time everyday, 10am and 8pm respectively, it only leaves some time in between. My days seem to play out the same way everyday. I’m so dependent on my nausea meds that it creates a tighter schedule. 2:30 and 8:30 around the clock my alarm rings to take my Compazine. This wakes me at night and forces me into further routine to regain sleep. At 2:30 I take my pill and migrate to the bathroom for a sesh. I need to get stoned to get back on even keel and get back to sleep. When I cant back to sleep I lean for the couch. Just a few episodes. Usually something light; Uplifting. Planet Earth is a wee hours favorite. Really anything with David Attenborough. Recently I

have been watching Quarterback on Netflix.

Breezed through it. Back to sleep.

The alarm continues to go off at 8:30am. Its time for another Compazine. This is a good time for us to get up as we have to have some private lay time before getting up for our appointment. We need to hold each other and wake-up slow.  It’s really nice. After laying for a while we move to our kitchenette to make small portions of breakfast to fill up on before leaving. We walk towards to Eisenberg building. The Subway is open today being a busy weekday and we scoot right over. Upon check-in we are given a buzzer to hold our place in line. It’s been busy this week. The waits aren’t long but its just a hectic environment. We are taken relatively quickly to an exam room where our nurse swiftly takes blood samples from me before giving my IV Kytrol nausea treatment. This drug has been a savior for me, truly. Really has helped to alleviate my uncomfortableness and help me to maintain my ingestion of small meals several times daily. Next up a CSN comes in to take my vitals. It’s getting crowded in this tiny room. OMG the provider is here now. Everybody in one small room. It’s all good. I would rather get this all done at once like a NASCAR pitstop than have my morning drag with waiting. My Nurse and provider go through the laundry list of questions regarding physical and mental stability. Lucky for me my only two real problems are nausea and tinnitus in my ears. Both things my provider is more than familiar with and is working to help me correct. It’s time to go. 10-minute appointment. It has to be a record. I love the Mayo Clinic, its truly such a well-oiled machine.

Back home to our humble abode. Back to the Residence INN. WE haven’t done a lot in terms of most people’s days but I am ready to rest. Too much movement. When I get back I turn on the shower full blast and block the drain. Ive been finding a lot of solace in turning the bathroom into my rainforest. The foggier I can get the room the more comfort I feel, it’s incredible. As the tub fills I get in to my waist. Unfortunately I cannot get much deeper because the central line in my chest is exposed, but this little bit of heaven is great. I just love the warm water coursing across my legs and the state of relaxation my body dives into. After about 20 minutes its time to rinse off. I’m tired and it’s time for my afternoon sleep. It’s just about noon and I plan on laying down for three or so hours. Quick Chong sesh and I’m well on my way to a snooze.

When I wake it’s to my 2pm alarm. Its time for another Compazine. I wake slowly. There’s no rush. I can go back to sleep if I want or I can stay up and get ready for NFL-total access on ESPN. I usually drift through this program and take in the big story lines on my way to the ESPN Happy Hour of Around the Horn and Pardon the Interruption at 4.
