Tuesday June 27 -Day 26- I didn’t sleep well. I was hot, overly tired, and didn’t take the time to set my pillows up correctly. We finish watching a true crime doc detailing these two twin brothers who were responsible for the biggest opioid sales scheme in history. They basically set up all these pill mills in Florida and called them Pain Clinics. They were selling a half a billion pills a year by the time they were arrested. These dudes were/are bad dudes and heavily responsible for the opioid epidemic. Fuck. When I wake at midnight my neck is sore I am sweating and I have a slight headache. I’m still tired though so I return to sleeping after using the restroom.

It's about 2:40 when I rise again. This time I am not tired anymore. This time I will be having some time on the couch. I go get my pen from the bathroom and grab my MacBook and headphones before heading to the couch. This is my prime time to watch shows. Uninterrupted, perfect darkness, its perfect! I tune into this inside the tour type documentary that follows all these teams on the Tour de France. It’s honestly an incredible show. These guys are incredible athletes. To see the conditions of some of the roads that they travel across at exhilarating speeds is truly mesmerizing. Almost painful to watch. The episodes keep playing and I’m glued. I’m fading. It’s 4:30a and it’s time for me to try to go back to sleep. Luckily I have no problem and I quickly drift back to a full sleep.
9:30a my alarm rings. It’s time for me to take my Compazine. Turns out its also time to get up and start my day. After taking my pill and setting the toaster over to bake my waffle I return to my room to make the bed. You know I see making the bed as the most important task of the day. If you make your bed you have accomplished something in your day; You also always return home to a tight, made-up bed. I eat quickly adding on a cinnamon roll and a glass of OJ. It’s time for me to head down valley to the distant desert town known as Eagle. I grab my camera, a snack, and a few drinks as I have no real mission and don’t know how long I’ll be out for.

Before heading down valley I must go to the dispensary to re-up for my second round of chemo as well as pick up a few prescriptions from the Walgreens. Rocky Road is my spot for today. I have a simple order of 4 cartridges of Seed & Smith 1000mg assorted flavors. That’s it. I have a few dollars left so I squeeze a pre-rolled on my tab. It’s a good call especially if I end up at Sylvan Lake. Walgreens is a simple trip as I go through the drive-thru and the pharmacy tech gets my order ready quickly and gets me on my way. Maybe the best employee at that entire store. For some reason there is 3 prescriptions instead of the two that I was looking for. It’s all good I’m sure I was supposed to be taking it. I break awy from Walgreens and round the rotary on my way west to Eagle. The drive is beautiful with all the vegetation grown to capacity, wildflowers lining the highway. It’s peaceful.
After exiting the highway the first stop I make is at the Eagle Whitewater park to check out some photo angles and see if anyone is ripping and can be photographed. I took a quick walk around the perim to see my options. After looking at each of the four waves I return to my car as there are no subjects to be shot at this time. I’ll come check before leaving town. I continue on to Costco where I just need to fill my truck quickly before making the drive through Eagle Ranch and up to Sylvan Lake.

The drive up to Sylvan Lake is a bit of a trek, but an easy trek. The first half is all paved before dumping you onto well manicured dirt road that surprisingly didn’t kick up an absorbent amount of loose dirt, which means I could keep my windows down for the entirety of the drive. The landscape was so lush. The wind came through and made waves sparkling in the afternoon sun as the wind blew through the reeds of tall grass. It was majestic. With no where to really stop without having to pay I was able to turn around and find a parking area nearby with a walking path down to the river. I took my pre-rolled and walked the ten dozen steps or so down to the river. I got an indica strain and it rocked me to a relaxed euphoria like state immediately. Let my creativity shine as I began thinking about the private ski resort that I want to start just beyond Frost Creek. The rest of my drive down the hill is filled with thoughts of a private shred area; Our own heli, our own cat operation! It’s a pipe dream.
When I get back into service I see that I have several missed calls and texts from Megs. Unfortunately the several miles around Sylvan does not have any cell reception so I was unable to respond to any correspondence over the last 45 minutes. She was not happy. Freaking out to be frank. I needed to let her know that she was over exaggerating a bit and that everything is ok. Everything was ok we just needed to hang up and both get our frames of reference back. As I continued out towards 70 I decided to go check the whitewater park again. To my surprise there was a kayaker who had just launched and was having a session in the bottom two waves at the park. I quickly grabbed my camera and lens and got to work getting the angles of this guy. I was switching off between A-Aperture priority mode and S- Shutter priority mode. Some of the shots I got came out good, some came out terribly. All goo
